The Frontenac Fury Girls’ Hockey Association (FFGHA), also known as the Frontenac Fury, provides girls aged six to 18 in the County of Frontenac with the opportunity to play recreational house-league hockey with other girls from within their community, and the nearby communities of Stone Mills, Gananoque, Napanee and Kingston. Our home games are played at the Frontenac Community Arena.
The FFGHA helps bring together youth from our rural communities to promote healthy and active lifestyles, sportsmanship, leadership, self-confidence and having fun! Our volunteer-based organization is dedicated to maintaining and expanding girls’ hockey within our region.
Our success is due in no small part to the ongoing support of generous community sponsors and supporters.
The FFGHA is operated by a volunteer executive made up of parents and guardians of players in the association. There executive meets several times a year to review hockey operations and ensure a good experience for players and families. The executive is composed of various roles including, but not limited to, president, vice-president, secretary/administrator, treasurer, ice scheduler, coaching/development coordinator, equipment coordinator, merchandise coordinator, fundraising coordinator.
The FFGHA House league registration fees includes ice time (practices at Frontenac Community Arena and games - home and away), jersey maintenance, player hoodies, two away tournaments a season and OWHA fees. Competitive teams charge an additional competitive fee that might include LLFHA fees, extra costs for officials (including mileage/travel), and potential additional costs for track suits, tournaments and incidentals. The association - and individual teams - also undertake fundraising activities to help keep costs as affordable and accessible for families as possible. There are several funding opportunities for families who might need assistance. Please email our registar for more information
Each team is assigned volunteer bench staff which includes coaches, assistant coaches, trainers and a manager. Usually, although not always, these bench staff are parents/guardians of players on the team. The coach and team manager will communicate directly with you, mostly usually in person at practices and games, and outside of those times, via email. The FFGHA sends regular updates via email and also posts items to our website (www.frontenacfury.ca), as well as our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
The first point of contact for families should always be their team manager. The manager is most likely able to address your question/concern and/or will consult with the rest of the bench staff to assist you. Also, our website has a lot of information to address some of your questions. If a member of your team’s bench staff are unable to assist you, they, or you, are welcome to reach out to the appropriate member of the FFGHA Executive. We would remind families that our executive are all volunteers and will reply to questions or concerns as soon as they are unable. We do ask that you respect they have other commitments and may not always be able to respond as quickly as you would like.
All players and parents/guardians as well as our bench staff are asked to sign a contract at the beginning of each season to ensure a fun, safe and respectful environment for everyone.
